Salobre Golf Course, Maspalomas, Gran Canaria

The Salobre Golf Course is an ambitious course with a numerousness of different shots and situations on the entire range. Not just the design resembles the golf courses of Arizona, USA, but also its location and planting.

Hole No. 1:
Par 5, Pro. 496m. , Gents 456m. , Ladies 439m.

This first hole is a spectacular par 5 that can really impress you when starting playing.
Once we have started playing we find a bunker on the right that can really be a trouble to those that hit far. In the second shot, the fairway starts to get narrower what makes things more difficult. When playing the green we have to consider the bunkers that surround it, one on each side. The green is divided, at the same time, in three levels .

Hole No. 2:
Par 4, Pro. 285m. , Gents 265m. , Ladies 231m.

In this hole we could say that the first shot from the tee is almost a blind shot. From the tee you can see the green but there is an unevenness of the ground that stop us from seeing where the ball has fallen. The green has a big bunker on the left and another one at the back that stop the balls going very far away.

Hole No. 3:
Par 3 Pro., 114, Gents 99m., Ladies 90m.

This is a short but really attractive hole: high tees, uneven greens… Two lakes protect the front part of this hole and a long lake protects the back part.

Hole No. 4:
Par 4, Pro. 336, Gents 309m., Ladies 271m.

This is a really hard par 4. It is a completely sloping hole that is finished off by a tiny green which consists of three well distinguished platforms.

Hole No. 5:
Par 4, Pro. 384m., Gents 324m., Ladies 313m.

Apparently easy hole. We find a bunker on the right that you really do not know if it helps you or not because it stops the balls from going to the right. All the left part of this hole is considered out of bounds. There is another bunker on the right just before the green which has no reference point at the back.

Hole No. 6:
Par 3, Pro 150m, Gents 133m., Ladies 97m.

This is a really exciting par 3 with an extended green that is surrounded by a narrow bunker. In order to make the hole more interesting all the right hand side of the hole is considered out of bounds.

Hole No. 7:
Par 4, Pro. 362m. , Gents 311m. , Ladies 291m.

This is another hole that has the tee on another level. It is fairly narrow because we find the fairway of hole nº 2 on the right and a slope on the left. There are two bunkers on the right that stop the balls from going to another hole. The second shot is completely blind in the sense that the green lacks of reference points.

Hole No. 8:
Par 3, Pro. 201m. , Gents 178m. , Ladies 166m.

In this par 3 we find the tees on another level and the fairway is set in an unevenness of the ground. The green is at the bottom. On the left hand side we find a helpful slope.

Hole No. 9:
Par 5, Pro. 529m. , Gents 498m. , Ladies 473m.

Spectacular tee-off from the top. All the left hand side is out of bounds and a big bunker on the right. An estuary crosses the fairway. The green is weakened by two bunkers on the left and another one on the right. This is a difficult green because of its small size.

Hole No. 10:
Par 4, Pro. 383m., Gents 344m. , Ladies 310m.

When we are ready to tee off, we realize that there is an estuary that crosses the fairway that can cause us some problems. Form the estuary to the centre of the green there are 150m. The green is protected by a bunker on the left hand side.

Hole No. 11:
Par 4, Pro. 402m. , Gents 379m. , Ladies 316m.

When we decide to tee-off we have to bear in mind that on the right hand side of the hole we have a blind shot to the green. On the left hand side of the green we find a lake and a bunker.

Hole No. 12:
Par 5, Pro. 445m. , Gents 379m. , Ladies 316m.

Long par 5, totally uphill making the hole more difficult. When playing the green we find two bunkers that can complicate our shot. This green has three sharp different levels.

Hole No. 13:
Par 4, Pro. 344m. , Gents 272 m. , Ladies 265m.

This is a downhill hole, apparently easy. We can reach the green from the tee, but we must remember that we have out of bounds on the right. If we fly the green or we go to the left we will be in trouble if we want to do the par. The green is surrounded by two bunkers.

Hole No. 14:
Par 3 , Pro. 187m. , Gents 165m. , Ladies 104m.

This is the most spectacular hole of the round. From the tee off the views are incredible. Before the green we can see a barranco (similar to a ravine) of stone and after the green an enormous rock with cardones. There is only a small place for the fall of the ball. For those players that cannot reach the fairway or the green there is a drop area at the beginning of the fairway.

Hole No. 15:
Par 5, Pro. 357m. , Gents 346m. , Ladies 340m.

From the tee off we find ourselves with an interesting situation: out of bounds on the right and side water on the left. We must prepare the second shot because there is a big lake at the back and on the left hand side of the green.

Hole No. 16:
Par 4 , Pro. 397m. , Gents 379m. , Ladies 272m.

The gentlemen must cross the bridge to reach the tee. It is a typical dog-right hole with out of bounds on the right and at the back of the green.

Hole No. 17:
Par 3, Pro. 206m. , Gents 154m. , Ladies 136m.

From the tee off we can see the green protected by two big bunkers which will complicate this par 3.

Hole No. 18:
Par 5, Pro. 529m. , Gents 508m.,
Ladies 489m.

This is a long par 5 with out of bounds on the right and side water on the left. The fairway presents some unevenness on the right hand side. The green has a small bunker on the left.

Salobre Golf North: 9-holes golf course

The 9-holes golf course Salobre North is being expanded to 18 holes right now, the opening is planned for the summer of 2008.
